In any industry, good leaders are paramount to running a successful business. In the aviation industry, good leadership skills are an essential component of not only running a successful business, but running a successful business with safety as a core value – big difference, and a lot more at stake in our industry than in most.
I think it’s fair to say we’ve all worked for our share of both good leaders and bad ones. Bad leaders typically have a lot in common with each other. They don’t walk the walk but are usually great talkers when needed. On the contrary, good leaders also have a great deal in common with each other, and there’s way more that makes up a good leader than you might think. Yes, walking the walk is a big part of good leadership skills, but there’s way more to it than that. What kind of leader are you? Or what kind of leader do you prefer to work with or for?
