Distraction, task saturation, channelized attention – these can all lead to a loss of situational awareness to airspeed states or trends. Several accidents have shown that insidious airspeed decay happens….and, lacking timely correction, unrecoverable rates of descent can develop into loss of control. Joining me will be Andrew Skow, former chief engineer for Northrop Grumman, and Tom Huff, Aviation Safety Officer for Gulfstream Aerospace. Andrew is the developer of a visual & aural multi-sensory alerting system called Q-Alpha which is designed to provide field-of-view, single source information and can alert a distracted pilot well ahead of a dangerous aircraft state.
